Mark Mothersbaugh, the founder and frontman for Devo stopped by the X-Play offices a few days ago and mentioned in an interview that Devo would have 3 songs released soon on Rock Band.
Given that Mothersbaugh said it would be 3 songs we have to suspect that it will be a Devo DLC.
The only track mentioned by name was ‘Through Being Cool’, which they re-recorded for inclusion in Rock Band.
“They wanted ‘Through Being Cool’ for some reason, which is kind of odd because its all synth solos,” Mothersbaugh said. ”So we re-recorded it. My brother Bob, who’s our guitar player, played all my synth solos, synth leads, as guitar leads, so it would relate to the game better, and then we recorded one of those little crazy endings that they put on it.”
As to the other Devo tracks that will be coming for Rock Band, Mothersbaugh didn’t say. A date for the DLC was not announced either, but as soon as we get more info we’ll be sure to get it to you.
You can see the full interview by watching X-Play tonight at 8PM ET

G4TV - Devo Coming To Rock Band
First off, I’d like to apologize for this Rock Band downloadable content update coming a bit late today; for whatever reason, the press release made its way into my spam folder. Maybe it was because it contained the words “blondie” and “goo.” Take that how you will …
Blondie’s “Hanging on the Telephone,” The Clash’s “Train in Vain (Stand by Me),” and Sonic Youth’s “Kool Thing” will all be available for download next week. As expected, each track will cost $1.99 a piece (or 160 MS Points), and will be available as a package for $5.49 (or 440 MS Points).
Sonic Youth’s “Kool Thing” (from their 1990 release, Goo) also randomly appeared on Guitar Hero 3, so many of you may be familiar with it. And the fact that Harmonix and MTV Games are including it in their “Classic Tracks” pack, along with two songs written around the time of my birth, is making me feel really, really old.
I knew the chorus to that Fall Out Boy song that they released last week, I swear.
Season 11 said to include a three track bonus pack.
The South Park Season 11 boxset will include a special bonus for fans of Rock Band in the form of a three track pack you’ll be able to download for Rock Band.
