Funky funk legend Bootsy Collins (P-Funk, James Brown, Deee-Lite) recently produced an exclusive, original theme song for 2K Sports’ Don King Presents: Prizefighter, due in stores June 10.
Over 70 songs appear on the soundtrack, either in their entirety or in shortened ring walk versions, from Survivor’s “Eye of the Tiger” to Run-D.M.C.’s “It’s Tricky,” James Brown’s “Turn Me Loose, I’m Doctor Feelgood” to Parliament’s “Give Up the Funk.”
“Doing the game track was very exciting,” Collins tells billboard.com. “It’s for Don King, a hero of mine from way back, so I took it very personal when asked to get involved. I felt musically and vocally that this song would place you right in the middle of the game, in a front row seat. I told Mr. King, ‘We gonna punch um! Just to make their hair stand straight. Then punch um again, to see the look on their face!’”
Don King Presents: Prizefighter will be available for Xbox 360, and later this year on the Wii and Nintendo DS systems.

Retailers in the UK are not adhering to the suggested retail price for the Euro Rock Band kit and are selling the whole thing for 40 quid cheaper than it was supposed to. The game disc alone costs a staggering £50 while the instrument set originally tacked on an extra £130. Listening to customer disapproval of such inflated prices, places like Play have dropped the price for the disc down to £39.99 and the instrument set down to £99.99. That’s a huge difference with all things considered.
Now, before you get all excited, just remember the PS3 version is yet to come out in Europe and doesn’t even have a solid date — this new pricing scheme is related to the Xbox 360 edition that came out last Friday. However, it should follow logically that the PS3 version, when it gets a release date, would see a similar discount. At least, we’re hoping so for the sake of our UK readers.
Co-founder of Inhabitants and one of the creators of the Oddworld universe, Lorne Lanning, has confirmed a new Oddworld title to be in development, but remains tight-lipped on any sort of details. the boss of Maxis, Jeff Braun, let this news slip last week in a speech, so it’s nice to get a solid confirmation at last. There’s not much else to say, really. There’s a new game in development with graphics apparently comparable to an animated movie, the two guys are working together on it, but anything else is a complete mystery. We’ll keep looking for more info, but until then, discuss what sort of collaboration could result from these two. Sim-Oddworld, perhaps?
Racing games are a dime a dozen nowadays. What makes an impressive title stand out? Is it the physics, the courses, the car selection, the destruction? Who knows for sure, but we can safely say that GRID is easily an impressive game to check out as this video demonstrates. A lot of you have already tried the demo, but this shows off how well the game is progressing. We’ll keep an eye open for this one.
